Dear Friends of The Lafayette Escadrille and The Millionaires’ Unit,
We have exciting news to share on this Veterans Day!
First, The Lafayette Escadrille feature documentary is finished! We’re in our final fundraising push to get the film distributed and we’re almost there. We need your help to get this inspiring story of American volunteers stepping up in a time of global crisis to an already wide and eager audience—a perfect way to honor them this Veterans Day.
We’ve had a huge boost completing our fundraising but need to close our final gap. Our generous corporate sponsor, FedEx, has pledged to match half the amount to get us to our total. Adding a substantial donation from the Richard Lounsbery Foundation, our fundraising goal to share the film with the world is $75,000. Time is tight: The FedEx pledge expires December 31st! We’re so close — your donation will be essential in helping us reach this goal.
The audience is waiting! We’ve been working hard to spread the word and build interest. After our premiere at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in January, our team has been promoting the film with online events—“Happy Hour with the Lafayette Escadrille”—supporting museums, veterans’ organizations and aviation groups with content across the country. The response is always enthusiastic, and we always get the question, “So when can we see the film?”
Your donation will help us with the final tasks to get the film released. Distribution costs are to license the music, translate and narrate a French language version, design and manufacture the DVD and its supplemental films, and pay legal and insurance fees. Currently, The Lafayette Escadrille is being considered by two French distribution companies, as well as several PBS stations, and the major aviation and military museums across the country are anticipating screenings in 2021.
Please consider making an end-of-the-year donation. Again, the FedEx pledge expires December 31st! Your donation to the film will help honor these brave veterans by sharing it with the world. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and any tax-deductible donation amount will help get us to the finish line and get your name in the film credits. If you are interested in supporting the film, we can send you a private link for viewing.
Please visit http://www.thelafayetteescadrille.org to make your donation. Simply click the PayPal button at the top of the page, or contact us directly, and we’ll be happy to make arrangements with you.
Your support will ensure that this inspiring story of brave Americans rushing to the aid of our oldest ally is the kind of story we all need right now—something to inspire and bring us all together.
Thank you for your consideration.
